It is the place which gave the farmhouse its name: "Cà Veja", in Treiso, as in other parts of the Langhe hills, is a dialectal term which does not refer to any old house, but rather one which has been there for a very long time having survived life’s ups and downs over the years.

The paternal roots of Mauro Bussi wine production come from there, from the vineyards and the cellars which his father and his grandfather before him cultivated in this part of the territory of Treiso, which looks East towards Neviglie.

Add to this the maternal roots, equally grounded in wine-making, but from a different part of Treiso; one which overlooks the lower hills towards Barbaresco and the small village of Bongiovanni where mother and grandfather grew other smaller, but excellent and select vines.

Today, these two original entities have become one enterprise which has resulted in enough room to produce the right quantity, while maintaining the impeccable quality. The business covers a total area of 61/2 hectares, with the vines (5 ha and 83 are) having clear dominance over the hazel groves (76 are).

In the vineyard, traditional Piedmontese grape varieties bear their fruit; in particular the Dolcetto, a variety which has always found its preferred habitat in the hills of Treiso. Alongside it, the Nebbiolo and the Barbera represent the black grapes and the Moscato and Favorita the white, all of which have carved out their own niches.

Six Controlled Origin Denomination (DOC, DOCG) wines are made from the grapes: from the Nebbiolo comes Barbaresco Docg and Langhe Nebbiolo Doc; from the Dolcetto comes Dolcetto d'Alba Doc; from the Barbera comes Barbera d'Alba Doc; from the Favorita comes Langhe Favorita Doc and from the Moscato comes Piemonte Moscato Passito Doc.

The Moscato grapes are predominantly marketed by a Piedmontese sparkling wine maker which uses them in production of Asti Spumante, but some are bottled as the filtered sweet white “Festa”.
Just one small vine with good exposure, once reserved only for the family, is today used to make the precious Moscato Passito.

When the grapes are ripe and the harvest brings them into the cellars, it is the turn of the new headquarters in Treiso to take the starring role as they successively play host to grapes of all the different varieties, transforming them, via winemaking methods honed with time and experience into bold and delightful wines.
